Privacy Policy
Effective June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how HiringMath ("we", "us") handles information when you use hiringmath.com. We are based in Germany, and we process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have built the site to collect as little personal data as possible.
The short version
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The salary, state, benefit, and contractor figures you enter are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We do not require an account, and we do not sell personal data. We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand aggregate usage, and you can opt out of the cookie-based analytics at any time.
Information we collect
Information you enter into the calculators: processed locally in your browser only. It is not sent to us, logged, or stored anywhere by HiringMath.
Usage and device data: like most websites, we collect limited technical and usage data through analytics providers, including pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (country or region), browser and device type, and IP address (used for security and approximate geolocation, then discarded or truncated by our providers).
Information you send us: if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.
Analytics and cookies
We use the following services:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) to understand how the site is used. GA4 sets cookies and processes usage and device data. This is the only cookie-based tracking on the site.
- Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights (Vercel Inc.), which measure aggregate traffic and performance without using cookies and without building profiles of individual visitors.
- Server and hosting logs kept by our host (Vercel) for security and reliability.
Strictly necessary functions (serving the site, remembering your light/dark theme preference) rely on essential storage that does not require consent. Analytics cookies are not essential; where required, we rely on your consent, and you can decline or withdraw it (see "Your choices" below).
Legal bases for processing (GDPR Article 6)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for cookie-based analytics, where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating, securing, and improving the site through aggregate, privacy-conscious measurement.
- Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) where the law requires us to retain certain records.
Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers above, who act as processors on our behalf. Some providers (including Google and Vercel) may process data on servers in the United States; such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained for the limited periods set by our providers (GA4 is configured for short retention). Emails you send are kept only as long as needed to respond and for our records. We do not retain calculator inputs at all.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email privacy@hiringmath.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as your local German data-protection authority.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or enable a "Do Not Track" / global privacy control signal. Doing so will not affect the calculators, which work without any tracking.
Children
HiringMath is a business tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. We will revise the effective date above when we do.
