Privacy Policy
Effective July 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how HiringMath ("we", "us") handles information when you use hiringmath.com. We are based in Germany, and we process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have built the site to collect as little personal data as possible.
The short version
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The salary, state, benefit, and contractor calculations are not sent to our application servers. With analytics consent, we record product events such as the calculator used and scenario state selected, but not monetary input values. We do not require an account or sell personal data, and you can withdraw analytics consent at any time.
Information we collect
Monetary calculator inputs: processed locally in your browser. Salary, benefit, overhead, and contractor amounts are not intentionally included in analytics events. Calculator input and result areas are masked in session replay.
Usage and device data:like most websites, we collect limited technical and usage data through analytics providers, including pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (country or region), browser and device type, calculator interactions and selected scenario state, and IP address (used for security and approximate geolocation, then handled under each provider's policies).
Information you send us: if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.
Analytics and cookies
We use the following services:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) to understand how the site is used. GA4 sets cookies and processes usage and device data after consent.
- Google Ads conversion measurement (Google Ireland Ltd.) to measure whether an advertising click leads to a visit or calculator interaction. The Google Ads tag loads only after analytics consent.
- PostHog Cloud EU (PostHog Inc.) for web and product analytics, heatmaps, performance signals, and masked session replay. PostHog loads only after consent, uses anonymous visitor identifiers, and is configured not to create identified user profiles. Monetary inputs are masked and are not included in our custom events.
- Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights (Vercel Inc.), which measure aggregate traffic and performance without using cookies and without building profiles of individual visitors.
- Server and hosting logs kept by our host (Vercel) for security and reliability.
Strictly necessary functions (serving the site, remembering your light/dark theme preference) rely on essential storage that does not require consent. Analytics cookies are not essential; where required, we rely on your consent, and you can decline or withdraw it (see "Your choices" below).
Legal bases for processing (GDPR Article 6)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for cookie-based analytics, where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating, securing, and improving the site through aggregate, privacy-conscious measurement.
- Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) where the law requires us to retain certain records.
Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers above, who act as processors on our behalf. Some providers (including Google and Vercel) may process data on servers in the United States; PostHog analytics are sent to its EU Cloud endpoint. International transfers are covered by the safeguards offered by the relevant provider, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained for the limited periods set by our providers. Emails you send are kept only as long as needed to respond and for our records. We do not intentionally retain monetary calculator inputs.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email privacy@hiringmath.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as your local German data-protection authority.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or enable a "Do Not Track" signal. Use the "Cookie settings" control in the site footer to decline or withdraw analytics consent. Withdrawing consent stops PostHog capture and persistence. These choices do not affect the calculators.
Children
HiringMath is a business tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. We will revise the effective date above when we do.
